As the economic development arm of the Jean Marie River First Nation, the JMRDC works independently from the Nation and Council to champion community-driven projects that create lasting opportunities for the JMRFN and nurture prosperity.

The role of the JRMDC is to:
- Develop business plans for JMRFN properties.
- Communicate with JMRFN members about new developments and business plans for the Nation.
- Manage the revitalization of existing JRMFN assets.
- Monitor the work of contractors.
- Coordinate job opportunities for JMRFN members.
